BEGINNING:
Since 1988 I ran my practice as a design / build studio. As such, I am deeply involved and oversee every facet; from design through construction.
Over the years, I developed a speciality working with difficult and challenging sites.
EXAMPLE:
The project to the left was designed on one of the few 30' wide city lots in Minneapolis. The clients' program delineated the following: Views of Lake Calhoun [now renamed] and views of the Minneapolis skyline, both in opposite directions. The result was a contemporary urban residence shoehorned into very restrictive site perimeters; reminiscent of a sophisticated San Francisco row house.
TODAY:
My residential projects are mainly renovation of existing homes. The site criteria, examination and interpretation remain the same, if not substantially increased. Most of my work now is mainly renovation.
Currently, a personal project is underway. A revisionist look at a classic American Rambler transformed into an Urban Contemporary Loft typology.

MANTRA 1:
Design emanates from the site.
MANTRA 2:
Innovative architectures' express purpose is to optimally serve its function.
